Jharkhand: Jharkhand Assembly passed a supplementary budget of Rs 3437 crore

The Jharkhand Assembly on Tuesday passed the supplementary budget of Rs 3,436.56 crore for the current financial year by voice vote. At the same time, in the monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) created a huge uproar after which four of its MLAs were suspended.

AJSU MLA Lambodar Mahto moved the cut motion but the assembly rejected it and passed the supplementary budget by voice vote. Responding to questions from members during the discussion on the supplementary budget, Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon said it was placed before the House for the interest of the state as many things left out in the original budget have been included in the latest document.

Finance Minister Oraon presented the supplementary budget for 2022-23 on Monday. In the supplementary budget, Rs 188.28 crore for energy department, Rs 556 crore for establishment, Rs 127.60 crore for urban development, Rs 1436 crore in plan head, Rs 197 crore on central plans, for state contribution to centrally-sponsored scheme A provision of Rs 1,006 crore has been made.

Oraon said that in the supplementary budget, a provision of Rs 624 crore has been made for the Panchayati Raj Department while Rs 465 crore has been kept for the Health Department. After the supplementary budget was passed by voice vote in the assembly, the proceedings of the house were adjourned till Wednesday.
