Jharkhand government doctors protested against the biometric attendance system on Saturday. The doctors boycotted the biometric machine saying it was flawed and did not put thumb impression on it. Doctors say that they will keep doing this until its flaws are removed.

The protesters claimed that salaries of some of them were wrongly deducted on the basis of data provided through the biometric system. A senior health department official said on condition of anonymity, “The salary is given as per the biometric attendance system.

Doctors put attendance in manual register instead of biometric
Following a call by the Jharkhand Health Services Association (JHSA), doctors reached their workplace offices, hospitals and health centers on time, but did not put thumb impression in the biometric attendance machine to register the protest. Instead, they signed in the manual attendance register, said a JHSA functionary.

Salary of some medical officers withheld for December: JHSA
The JHSA alleged that the health department has withheld the December salary of some medical officers and deducted the salary of some others, whose biometric attendance was not completed.

Not all medical officers boycotted: Director of Health
Health Director Dr. Krishna Kumar said, Deputy Directors of Health Directorate, Ranchi today registered their attendance through biometric system. So it cannot be said that all the medical authorities have boycotted it.
