In the accident of cracking the mountain in Dadam, the openly ignoring the rules is coming to the fore. Mining was to be done from an angle of 60 degrees from the side of the mountain top, but the company did not do so and cut the mountain straight like a wall to a depth of 600 feet. Due to this the rest of the mountain became weak and fell on the workers. Right now no official is speaking openly in this regard.

Most importantly, the Directorate General of Mine Safety’s NOC was issued 5 days in advance for the closed mining due to the ban. The mining department issued permission to break the mountain spread over 50 acres in the Dadam area. The area around Dadam mountain is in the Aravalli range and mining is prohibited there. Due to pollution, mining was banned in Dadam area for two months. Mining work started here after the issue of NOC three days ago and the accident happened on the second day itself.

Excavated up to 400 feet below the surface
According to the rules, mining on the mountain should have started with the excavation from the top. According to the sources of the mining department, the excavation should have been done while descending on the bed technique i.e. at an angle of 60 degrees, so that there is no possibility of any kind of accident. Ignoring the rules, the mining company started breaking the mountain standing like a straight wall on one side. Not only this, the mining company dug the land down to about 400 feet from the surface of the mountain. Due to the removal of strength from the side, the weak part of the mountain fell on Saturday.

DGMS Ghaziabad gave NOC 5 days ago
The Directorate General of Mine Safety (DGMS), under the Union Ministry of Labor and Employment, visited the Khanak-Dadam Pahar area 5 days ago. After investigation, the team found everything fine and gave NOC for mining. The accident happened here on Saturday. Now the DGMS team will also investigate this matter.

Indiscriminate mining for 40 years
Ignoring the prescribed parameters in the Dadam mining area of Bhiwani district, the mining company invited this major accident. During the last 40 years, mining work is being done in the Dadam area indiscriminately. The Lee mine on lease was dug to a depth of 300 to 500 feet below the surface. All the political parties kept a blind eye to the irregularities in mining work while in the government. So far no major action has come to the fore.

Mining work was closed since November 10
Due to increase in pollution, mining work was stopped in the entire NCR region including Dadam from November 10. As winter progressed in December, the NGT meetings were held, but the mountain was kept closed due to non-improving air quality. The contractors, laborers and other people associated with mountain mining gave a memorandum to the district administration demanding to start mining work. Work resumed on improving air quality. Mining permission was issued on the night of 30 December after 50 days. The accident happened within 24 hours of the commencement of mining work.

Village development fund still outstanding on mining company
Govardhan Mines Company of Yamunanagar has the contract for mining in Dadam Pahar. The company has to deposit an installment of 9 crores to the government every month. 10% of the total mining amount has to be spent on the welfare of Dadam village. If sources are to be believed, about Rs 80 crore, including the amount of 9 installments and the development fund of the village, have not been deposited on the mining company yet.
