Indian American Lawmakers Decry US Supreme Court’s Reversal Of Roe v. Wade

Noreen Farrell, Executive Director of Equal Rights Advocates (ERA) issued a statement on the official website of ERA citing that the Supreme Court’s ruling unfairly impacts women of colour and immigrants.

Studies confirm that women forced to carry pregnancies to term face greater health risks, especially women from minority groups such as African-Americans and immigrant women. African-American women are three times more likely to die during childbirth than their white counterparts, according to ERA, a non-profit organization that aims at protecting the fundamental rights of marginalized persons in the United States.

US Vice President Kamala Harris also addressed a group ahead of a discussion on maternal health in Plainsfield, Illinois, where she said that the fight was “not over.”
