Hemkund Sahib Yatra begins from May 20: Snow removed from in front of Kapat, Ardas; Army personnel engaged in making way

The pilgrimage to Sri Hemkund Sahib, the religious place of Sikhs located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, is going to start from May 20. The portals of Shri Hemkund Sahib are about to open after almost seven months. Indian Army soldiers are working day and night here to make sure that the passengers don’t face any problem and are making way through the snow sheet more than 15 feet high.

Every year before the snowfall starts in winter, the doors of Sri Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara built in the Himalayan hills are closed. These doors are kept closed for 6 to 7 months. As of now, Gurudwara Sahib’s manager Gurnam Singh and Sevadar have also reached with the army. Recently, along with the army personnel, the manager Gurnam Singh also offered prayers for happiness and peace.

Troops of 418 Engineering Corps are mobilized to make way for Sri Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara. In the past, the soldiers cut 4 feet of snow from the Atlakoti glacier and made way. Now these jawans are engaged in removing snow from Aastha Path.
