Hanuman Chalisa row: The case against Ravi and Navneet Rana

  • Lawmaker couple Ravi Rana and Navneet Rana’s call for the chanting of Hanuman Chalisa outside Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray’s residence triggered angry protests by Shiv Sena workers. The duo was arrested, two FIRs lodged against them and they were also charged with sedition. The Ranas then moved the Bombay High Court seeking that one of the two FIRs registered against them under section 353 of the IPC be quashed, but the court junked their petition. The MP-MLA couple has now moved the sessions court on Monday seeking bail in the sedition FIR. The plea is likely to be heard today.
