Ground report from the hotel where Atiq’s 3 attackers stayed: Stayed in the executive room for Rs 2200, ID was not even given; someone else booked

“4 hours had passed since my shift started. At around 1 pm 8 to 10 people entered the hotel. I asked what happened sir. All they said was that we are from the police. Open room number 203, 204 to search. . After this 5 people went upstairs with me. I opened the doors of both the rooms. After that they sent me back to the reception. The first thing I came down was to call the owner and tell him that checking is going on here.”

“After about 30 minutes they all came down and started checking the entry register and CCTV video of the hotel. After that they took the register and DVR with them. As soon as they left the media persons also came here, they were saying that those who killed Atiq The boys stayed here. That’s why the hotel was checked.” This is what Mohit Srivastava, manager of Prayagraj’s Hotel ‘Stay Inn’ has to say.

The SIT is interrogating the three shooters after the April 15 murder of mafia Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf. What was the activity of the shooters before committing the murder? When did he come to Prayagraj, where did he stay? What were you doing on the day of the massacre? Answers to many such questions are being sought. On 20 April, the shooters were interrogated for 8 hours. During this, he told that he had stayed in a hotel near platform number 1 of Prayagraj Junction.

Hotel STAY Inn is located on Nurullah Road, opposite Prayagraj Railway Station.

20 rooms in 4 floor hotel, single room Rs 1700
We went straight to the hotel rooms where the SIT had checked. Both the rooms were locked. When we asked manager Mohit to get them opened, we came to know that the keys have been taken away by the investigation team. After this we asked him to open the adjacent room. This room was no less than a luxury room. We asked the manager the price. He told the rate – one day charge 2200 rupees.

Hotel manager Mohit says, “The hotel has 4 floors and has a total of 20 rooms. Rooms are charged according to the category. The charge for a super deluxe category room is Rs 1700 for a day. The charge for the executive category is Rs 2200 ” The rooms that the police searched were the executive rooms of the hotel. That is, there was no shortage of money with the shooters.

According to SIT sources, two days before Atiq’s murder i.e. on April 13 at 8:30 pm, the shooters checked into the hotel. It was from here that he used to keep news of the movement of the mafia everyday.

This is the super deluxe room of the hotel ‘Stay Inn’. Its one day charge is Rs 1700.

More than 50 hotels in the area near platform number 1
Accused Lavlesh Tiwari told the SIT during interrogation that the room in the hotel where he stayed with Sunny and Arun was booked by someone else. Who was this fourth person? In view of this, the SIT is also probing the ‘Stay Inn’ hotel and its surrounding hotels. So that it can be known whether the fourth suspect was also staying around the hotel? The one who is guiding them.

We find out how easy it is to find a hotel here
To know how easy it is to get a hotel here, we visited the hotels lined up in front of the Prayagraj Railway Station. Talked to the staff there. We reached Hotel Amber in the back lane of Hotel ‘Stay Inn’. Anyone can take a room here by giving a valid ID proof.

We spoke to hotel manager Sunil. He says, “There are more than 50 small and big hotels on the entire Nurullah Road. 60% of these are small lounges. Where hundreds of passengers stay every day. Rooms are given here only by giving Aadhaar card and identity card. In some hotels, rooms are given on pre-booking. In this case, hoteliers only have to tell the booking ID.

2 mobiles were found from the hotel, the manager does not know
According to SIT sources, 2 mobiles of the shooters have been recovered from the ‘Stay Inn’ hotel itself. Before the murder of Atiq-Ashraf, the attackers had left these mobiles in the hotel itself. However, the SIM has been found missing from the mobile. No one has any information about where is that sim. However, the phone’s data is being recovered. The police is trying to find out the motive behind the murder by connecting every link.

Why didn’t the hotel management inform the police about the mobile?
We asked Mohit, the manager of Stay Inn. 2 mobile phones were recovered from your hotel. Why didn’t you inform the police about this earlier? On this Mohit says, “We came to know about this when the name of our hotel came on TV. Who all came here before that. We do not know anything about what the police found in the rooms.”

Shooters used to go to the rooms after doing Reiki of Atiq-Ashraf

At present, the hotel’s room numbers 203, 204 have been locked due to security reasons.

According to SIT sources, the three shooters have told during interrogation that they were keeping an eye on Atiq-Ashraf from April 13 till the night of the murder. After doing Reiki of both, they used to come back to the hotel. On the night of 15 April, these three shooters were already present outside Calvin Hospital. The shooters told that they used to go by e-rickshaw for Reiki of Atiq and Ashraf.

We asked the hotel manager to show us the CCTV footage from April 13 to 15. But it is learned that the investigation team has already taken possession of the DVR and all the CCTV videos related to the hotel. However, who is seen in this footage. Information about this is not yet available.

Mafia Atiq and his brother Ashraf were shot dead on the night of 15 April. Those who killed them were identified as Arun Maurya, Sunny and Lavlesh Tiwari. All three approached the police convoy posing as journalists and as soon as Atiq and Ashraf started talking to the media, all three opened fire. During this, about 18 rounds of bullets were fired, out of which Atiq was hit by 8 bullets.

Rooms from 300 to 3000, annual business of crores
An official of the Board of Trade of Prayagraj said that there are two types of hotels in Nurullah Road, Minhajpur and Muirabad. Earlier: Where the bill is given on stay. Others: There are small lounges in the streets where raw receipts are given instead of bills.

In the greed of money, some hoteliers allow tourists to stay without any ID. Or they book a room on anyone’s ID without seeing their face. Which in a way is a violation of the law. But the hotels that do such fraud are now only in name.

Hotels and lodges have been built along the line on Katju Road in Prayagraj.

“In this area you will find rooms ranging from Rs 300 to Rs 3000. According to an estimate, the annual business of the hotel sector here is around Rs 20 to 30 crores.”
