Vadodara: A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Godhra town late on Sunday afternoon. An offence regarding the incident was registered around midnight.
The girl used to stay with her father, his cousin brother and her three siblings in an open space in the Shehra Bhagol area of the town. Her father used to collect plastic items discarded in the open and sell them for an earning.
The father and his cousin left the four children including the 10-year-old girl at their dwelling on Sunday morning. When he returned late in the afternoon, the girl had blood on her clothes.
The girl told her father that Sanjay who used to stay near their house took the girl to an isolated place and allegedly raped her. The girl’s father and his cousin rushed the girl to the Godhra civil hospital for treatment. After the doctors on duty provided necessary documents, the father registered the offence at the Godhra B Division police station on Sunday. Officials said that the accused had escaped after committing the crime. His father was traced and quizzed, but was not able to give any details.
