Goa: Congress’s Curtorim MLA Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco resigns, likely to join TMC | Goa News – Times of India

PANAJI: In a major setback to Congress, its three-time Curtorim MLA Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco on Monday resigned.
Four days ago, he was announced as the party’s Curtorim candidate for 2022 assembly elections.
Lourenco is likely to join Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Lourenco submitted his resignation to Goa legislature secretary at Porvorim.
Lourenco was earlier in talks with BJP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), but congress had managed to convince him not to quit the party.
With Lourenco’s resignation, the strength of Congress in the legislative assembly has reduced to only two MLAs including leader of opposition and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and congress senior Poriem MLA Pratapsingh Rane.
Sources informed that he would leave for Kolkata to join TMC in the presence of West Bengal chief minister Mamata Benerjee.
Recently, former chief minister and former Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro had resigned from Congress to join TMC who later became TMC Rajya Sabha member.
