Exclusive! Kumar Mangat’s son Abhishek plans to direct ‘Drishyam 2’, but… – Times of India

Nishikant Kamat is no more and plans are afoot to start ‘Drishyam 2‘. In all probability it would have been Kamat in the saddle if cruel destiny hadn’t struck on August 17, 2020- after all, Kamat did a fantastic job with the first part which released in 2015 – but now it’s going to be Kumar Mangat‘s son Abhishek who will wield the megaphone.

Sources say that Abhishek is a very talented man and has been working very hard on the second part as a responsibility to maintain the respect and popularity of the franchise.

Ajay Devgn’s most trusted collaborator, Kumar Mangat has been a producer on many movies and Abhishek clearly has a lot of hands-on experience, having been on the sets in the past.

The stage has been set and if all was well, buzz is that Team ‘Drishyam 2′ wanted to start the shoot on January 11, 2022. Obviously they have gone all out to resolve the dispute. But till the time of going online, it was still under subjudice. ETimes had broken the dispute story on May 4 last year that Viacom Motion Pictures who were the co-producers of the first edition have objected to the second part being made without they being in it. When contacted, Abhishek confirmed that he is directing ‘Drishyam 2’ but said that they cannot really start until things are sorted.

‘Drishyam’ starred Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Ishita Dutta in main roles.
