Electric trolley buses are going to replace trams

Ritilottama Nostalgia in the heart of Kolkata, the life of the tram may be a few more days. This time electric trolley bus is going to run instead of tram. This was stated by the state transport minister Firhad Hakim in the assembly recently. A foreign company has already placed an order for this electric trolley bus.

During the question and answer session in the assembly, MLA Debashis Kumar asked the state transport minister Firhad Hakim about the expansion of the tram. The then state transport minister Firhad Hakim said the state government was not expanding the tram. Where the tram line goes through the middle of the road, it is difficult to run this service. That is why the alternative of tram has been considered. He said electric trolley buses have been considered as an alternative to trams. This bus should look like an AC bus. The tramline has overhead electric connections. That trolley bus will run through that electric connection.

According to the transport department, there were 11 tram routes in Kolkata. Now there are only two routes running. The state-of-the-art electric trolley bus will go down in history as a tram. According to the administration, a bus has been ordered for the time being. This bus is coming from Poland. This bus will be run experimentally. If successful, more buses will be ordered. As a result, it will be possible to run more buses on Kolkata’s tram routes.
