Election exit polls of three states will come today: After 7 pm know BJP or Congress in 3 states of Northeast?

Election exit polls will be out today as soon as voting for the Meghalaya and Nagaland assembly elections is over. The Election Commission had banned exit polls before the voting. Voting for the assembly elections in Meghalaya and Nagaland has started from 7 am on Monday. Voting is to be held for 60 assembly seats in Meghalaya and 59 in Nagaland. The results of the election will come on March 2.

2315 booths in Nagaland, 183 candidates in fray
Polling is being held on Monday for 59 of the 60 assembly seats in 16 districts of Nagaland. On February 10, Congress candidate Khekashe Sumi from Akuluto constituency withdrew his nomination, following which BJP candidate Kajeto Kinimi was elected unopposed.

Chief Electoral Officer V. Shashank Shekhar said – There are a total of 13 lakh voters in the state. Voting is taking place at 2,315 polling stations for 59 seats. 183 candidates are in the fray, including 4 women and 19 independent candidates.

3419 booths in Meghalaya, 375 candidates in the fray
Polling is being held in 60 assembly seats in 12 districts of Meghalaya. For this, 3419 polling stations have been set up. Here NPP is contesting on 57 seats, while Congress and BJP have fielded their candidates on 60-60 seats. Apart from this, 56 candidates of TMC are also contesting the elections. There are a total of 30 lakh voters in the state. There are 375 candidates in the fray, including 339 men and 36 women.

Meghalaya Legislative Assembly: Seats- 60, Majority- 31
No party got a clear majority in the 2018 assembly elections in Meghalaya. Congress got the maximum 21 seats. Konrad Sangma’s party NPP got 19 seats. Among other parties, UDP got 6, PDF got 4, BJP and HSPDP got two seats each. Konrad Sangma did not want the Congress to come to power, so he formed a coalition government with the support of other parties including the BJP and became the Chief Minister of the state.

In Meghalaya, all parties are contesting elections on their own.
After 5 years now the political equation of Meghalaya has completely changed. Mamta Banerjee’s party TMC is also in the fray this time in the state. On this, Rahul Gandhi says that Mamta Banerjee is helping to bring BJP to power in Meghalaya.

On the other hand, the alliance of NPP and BJP has broken. Both the parties have entered the electoral fray separately. Overall, a four-cornered fight is going on in Meghalaya. TMC-UDP are contesting elections on one side, NPP on the other side, BJP on the third side and Congress on the fourth corner.

Nagaland Legislative Assembly: Seats-60, Majority-31
Nagaland is governed by the National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP). Neiphiu Rio is the CM. NDPP came into existence in 2017. The NDPP then won 17 seats and the BJP 12. The two parties had forged an alliance before the elections. Last year, both the parties had said in a joint statement that the NDPP would contest 40 seats and the BJP together on 20 seats.

Opposition also with the government in Nagaland
Shortly after the election results, most of the MLAs from the regional party NPF defected to the NDPP. At the same time, the remaining 4 MLAs of NPF also supported the government. In such a situation, all the 60 MLAs in the state belonged to the ruling party. Overall, there is no one in opposition in Nagaland.
