Elderly couple found dead at home in Kanpur

An elderly husband-wife duo was found dead at their home in the Barra area of Kanpur on Tuesday night. It is suspected that the couple had been murdered using a sharp weapon.

An elderly couple was found dead at their home in the Barra area of Kanpur on Tuesday night. The deceased, identified as Munna Lal, RAJ DEVI had retired from the fire department in the Ordnance Factory.

While police have launched an investigation into the matter, the son of the deceased, identified as Anoop, has accused members of his in-laws’ side of his parents’ murder.

As per the information, the couple used to live with their son Anoop and daughter Sonika in a two-storey house who were both present at the time of the incident. Talking about the incident, Anoop said that it was late at night when his sister Sonika informed him that their parents had been murdered.

Soon, police were informed who reached the spot and launched an investigation into the matter.

Joint Police Commissioner Anand Kulkarni said that prima facie it appeared that the couple had been murdered using a sharp weapon. The dead bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

FAMILY DISPUTE CAUSE BEHIND MURDER?

In his complaint, Anoop alleged that things were not well and a family dispute was going on with his wife Akanksha and his brother-in-law. He went on to further allege that his wife’s family members had demanded Rs 50 lakh from them.

Anoop has accused his brother-in-law Mayank and a samosa seller of the area of his parents’ murder.

Further investigations are on.
