‘Drishyam’ Franchise Receives Remake Rights In English And Non-Indian Languages

New Delhi: Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Drishyam 2’ helmed by Abhishek Pathak has garnered massive success at the box office and critical acclaim from all quarters. The makers are now pleased to announce that Panorama Studios International LTD has acquired the remake rights of the Malayalam language Drishyam 1 and Drishyam 2 in all non-Indian languages.

The Malayalam movie that made Mohanlal a household name as Georgekutty is being remade in a number of languages and cultures outside of India, including Hollywood. The movie depicts the life of Georgekutty and his cheerful family. After an unfortunate series of events in which his family unintentionally commits a crime, he takes it upon himself to defend his loved ones and their secret.

According to a statement from Panorama Studios International LTD, “After the tremendous success of Drishyam 2 (in Hindi), Panorama Studios International Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has acquired remake rights of the Malayalam language films Drishyam 1 and Drishyam 2 in all non-Indian languages i.e. all foreign languages including English, but excluding Filipino, Sinhala and Indonesian.”

They added, “Adding to the multiple languages rights for the film, we have also acquired the rights of Chinese Language remake of Drishyam 2. We are now in negotiations to produce the film in Korean, Japan and Hollywood.”

Two Bollywood remakes of Drishyam have been released thus far, both of which have been very successful. ‘Drishyam 2’, which was released in Hindi last year, made about Rs 250 crore at the Indian box office.

‘Drishyam 2’ also managed to surpass Kartik Aaryan starrer ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’s lifetime collection and is currently the third-highest-grossing Hindi film of the year 2022.

Director Abhishek Pathak’s debut film, ‘Drishyam 2’, features Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Akshaye Khanna, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta.
