A director of Serum Institute of India ie SII became a victim of cyber fraud. An unknown person transferred Rs 1 crore from him to the bank account. The special thing is that the person who cheated himself as Adar Poonawalla, CEO of SII and asked to transfer the money.

The news agency gave this information by quoting Pune Police. The incident is said to have happened on Wednesday and Thursday. The police have registered a case in this case under the fraud and IT Act.

Poonawalla’s number was the same
Senior Police Inspector Pratap Mankar said that a case has been registered on behalf of the company’s director Satish Deshpande at the Boond Garden police station. He told that a WhatsApp message came to me, in which the person described himself as Adar Poonawalla. One 1 crore rupees were asked in the message. When I transferred the money, it came to know that I was cheated. The surprising thing is that the number that came on the message was of Adar Poonawalla.

How was the fraud detected?
Company officials mistook this message as CEO and transferred the money online. After transferring the money, Satish Deshpande realized that Adar Poonawalla never asks for money by messaging like this. After that, when he confirmed, it came to know that the company had been cheated.

Serum Institute CEO Adar Poonawalla said in July that he was planning to develop an mRNA vaccine for monkeypox. In this, Novavax company is supporting them. Monkeypox was declared a health emergency by the WHO on 23 July. Keeping this in mind, Serum Institute has decided to make monkeypox vaccine.
