Delhi Education dept suspends recognition of DPS Rohini over fee hike

The Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi, cancelled the recognition of the Delhi Public School for not complying with the directions laid by it.

By Pankaj Jain: The Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi government on Tuesday cancelled the recognition of the Delhi Public School (DPS), situated in Rohini. The department said the school authority was not following the directions laid out by it and was allegedly increasing the fee structure.

The DoE order stated that the schools operating on the lands allotted by Delhi Development Authority (DDA) were required to seek its approval before implementing any fee hike.

The order enabled the Directorate to intervene in the affairs of schools which were engaged in repeated non-compliance and thus liable for suspension of recognition.

As per the authorities, the order to suspend the recognition of Delhi Public School, Sec-24, Rohini would sustain till the school removes the deficiencies or defects as mentioned in the order.

The school would be allowed to operate with recognition till it completes the current session, 2022-23 and the suspension order would not affect the students studying in the current session.

The school has been asked not to admit students for the session, 2023-24.

If the school authorities don’t act upon the order, then the students will be shifted to other recognised schools after the session completes.

The DoE has ordered the refund of over-charged fees (if already paid), and the teaching and non-teaching staff would be taken care of under the jurisdiction Delhi government.
