The Cyberabad Police of Telangana has arrested the person who stole the data of 66.9 crore people and companies on Saturday. It is being called the biggest data theft ever. According to the police, this data has been stolen in 24 states and 8 big cities of the country.

The name of the accused is Vinay Bhardwaj. He was operating from Faridabad, Haryana through the InspireWebz website. He was selling the stolen data to clients through cloud drive links. Police have seized 2 mobile phones and 2 laptops.

Which people and companies had their data stolen?

Police said that the data of Byju’s and Vedantu students, 1.84 lakh cab users, 4.5 lakh salaried employees was found with the accused.

Apart from big organizations like GST and RTO, data of companies like Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, Paytm, PhonePe, Big Basket, Book My Show, Instagram, Zomato, Policy Bazaar has also been received.

Apart from government officers and army officers, PAN card holders, 9th-10th, 11th-12th students, senior citizens, Delhi electricity consumers, people with D-MAT accounts, mobile numbers of many people have also been found with the accused.

Data of NEET students, high net worth individuals, insurance holders, debit and credit card holders were also stolen.

What kind of data was stolen?
Police said that data like name, mobile number, address of NEET student’s father was stolen. The stolen data of PAN card holders includes information like income, e-mail ID, phone number. Data like name, mobile number, category, date of birth of government officials was stolen.
