‘Daddy’s money?’ Emcure director Namita Thapar shuts down doubts during Reddit AMA

Emcure Pharmaceuticals’ executive director Namita Thapar faced accusations of solely inheriting her success during a Reddit AMA. Despite holding various positions like investor on Shark Tank India and founding the Thapar Entrepreneur Academy, some users attributed her achievements solely to her father’s pharmaceutical company.

During the AMA (Ask Me Anything) session, a user directly questioned her success without “family wealth.” Thapar responded with a polite yet firm stance, highlighting her qualifications and diverse ventures.

“I am a CA (first attempt)…MBA …fantastic credentials …I’m sure I would do just fine even without daddy’s money my friend!” she wrote.

One user wrote, “It takes a lot of effort regardless of your privileges to pass on your first attempt and being someone who belongs to the same family of CAs, I can assure you it isn’t cocky at all. It’s just being proud of what you have done and she definitely is and should be.”

Another added, “Kudos to Namita for replying to the troll comment but I think CA + Foreign MBA (that too without any work experience which is impossible for the general public who don’t have any referral) is not a badge of honour. I respect her for improving female representation but Vinita is the real hustler and achiever.”

A third concluded, “Millions in India are CA and MBA, it’s good credentials to have but honestly it’s nothing extra ordinary. The papa ka paisa to set up business is what differentiates her.”
