Covid: Schools & Colleges In UP To Remain Closed Till Jan 30, Online Classes To Continue

Lucknow: In view of the surge in Covid-19 cases, the Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday ordered that all educational institutions will remain closed till January 30.

The online classes, will, however, continue for the students, said the order issued by Uttar Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary Avneesh Kumar Awasthi.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had earlier this week chaired the Covid-19 review meeting in Lucknow.

The Chief Minister during the meeting emphasized that efforts should be made to safeguard both “lives and livelihoods”.

In a bid to combat the spread of Covid-19, the state government had earlier imposed certain restrictions in the state.

The Uttar Pradesh government had earlier ordered that all schools and colleges will remain closed till January 23.

The state government had earlier on January 5 ordered to close all government and private schools for students up to Class 10 till January 16.

Earlier on Thursday, Uttar Pradesh crossed the 24 crore doses Covid-19 vaccination mark. With 68 lakh doses, Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow topped the districts in giving jabs.

Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry informed that over 161 crore 16 lakh doses of Covid vaccines have been administered in the country under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The ministry said that over 67,49,000 Covid vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours to the beneficiaries.

The Health Ministry said 3,37,704 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.

The Health Ministry said India’s active caseload currently stands at 21,13,365

The active cases stand at 5.43%, while the recovery rate is 93.31%, the ministry added.

The Health Ministry further said 2,42,676 people recovered in the last 24 hours, increasing the total recoveries to 3,63,01,482.
