Covid Restrictions: Indian Railways To Resume Providing Linen, Blankets To Passengers

New Delhi: The Indian Railways issued orders on Thursday to begin distributing linen, blankets, and curtains inside trains, which came as a significant relief to passengers.

The Railway Board stated in an order sent to general managers of all railway zones that the supply of these commodities to restart immediately.

Taking to Twitter, the Ministry of Railways said, “Railways withdraws restriction on the provision of linen, blankets and curtains inside trains with immediate effect.”

The prohibition was put in place due to an increase in COVID-19 instances. As a result, the protocol was revised, and a Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) for passenger train movement was established, which imposed the restriction on linen, blankets and curtains inside trains.

According to a recent official directive from the Ministry of Railways, the above-mentioned prohibition on the delivery of linen, blankets, and curtains inside the train has been lifted with immediate effect, and the same may be given as needed during the pre-COVID time.

After almost two years with no linens, blankets, or curtains in all trains across the country, the announcement was made.
