Chhattisgarh High Court Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Senior Advocate Kalpati Venkataraman Vishwanathan have been promoted as judges in the Supreme Court following the recommendation of the collegium system.

CJI Chandrachud said that the appointment of both as Supreme Court judges within 72 hours of the recommendation shows that the collegium is vibrant, active and dedicated to its work.

Whoever we have chosen, we have chosen only after consultation with all the judges of the Supreme Court. We should also thank the government, which took less than 72 hours to complete the process.

In May, the CJI had administered the oath of office to both the judges, after which the quorum of 34 judges was completed in the judges panel.
