Counting of votes for the by-elections for 3 Lok Sabha and 7 Assembly seats has started from 8 am on Sunday. Voting on these was held on 23 June. These include two Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh and one in Punjab. Besides these, votes were also cast for four assembly seats in Tripura and one each in Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand and Delhi.

Trends of 3 seats in Lok Sabha:

seats State competition Who’s ahead??
Azamgarh UP SP, BSP and BJP
Rampur UP SP and BJP
Sangrur Punjab AAP and Congress

Azamgarh seat of UP: Akhilesh’s brother and Nirhua face to face
In Rampur, there is a contest between Asim Raja of SP and Ghanshyam Lodhi of BJP. Congress is not contesting elections here. In Azamgarh, there is a triangular contest between Dharmendra Yadav of SP, Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirhua of BJP and Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali of BSP.

The reputation of Akhilesh Yadav in Azamgarh, Azam Khan in Rampur is at stake. The reason for this is that the seat of Azamgarh Akhilesh and Rampur has fallen vacant due to the resignation of Azam Khan. Both the places have been previously occupied by the SP.

In the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat that fell vacant after Bhagwant Mann became the Chief Minister, AAP had fielded Gurmel Singh, Congress Dalveer Singh Goldie and BJP only Dhillon.

By-elections were held on these 7 seats of the assembly
Delhi’s Rajendra Nagar seat: AAP has fielded Durgesh Pathak in the seat that fell vacant after AAP’s Raghav Chadha was elected to the Rajya Sabha. BJP has fielded former councilor Rajesh Bhatia and Congress has fielded Prem Lata.
