The Enforcement Directorate raided 16 locations in the city on Wednesday morning in connection with the BMC Covid Center scam in Mumbai. In fact, during the Corona period, close associates of Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aditya Thackeray got contracts to build Covid centers at many places in Maharashtra.

The BJP alleges that a scam has been done in the garb of these contracts. ED had also questioned BMC commissioner Iqbal Chahal regarding this. At the same time, houses of BMC officials, suppliers and others who helped in building the Covid center were also raided. The Maharashtra government had ordered an inquiry into the scam a day before.

According to media reports, searches are being conducted at the locations of Shiv Sena (Uddhav) secretary Suraj Chavan, IAS Sanjeev Jaiswal, Sanjay Raut’s business partner Sujil Patkar. The BJP had alleged irregularities in the contract to build the Covid centre. BJP leader Kirit Soumeya had alleged irregularities regarding this. He had lodged a complaint against Sanjay Raut’s business partner Sujit Patkar in the police station. On April 21, the Pune Police had registered a case regarding this.
