Bengal post-poll violence case: CBI issues notice to TMC leader Abu Taher

The CBI has issued a notice for TMC leader Abu Taher to appear before it for questioning in connection with the post-poll violence case.

Bengal witnessed large-scale violence after results of the bitterly fought assembly elections were announced on May 2, 2021. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress registered a landslide victory.

Amid allegations and counter-allegations of party members being targeted by rival groups, the Calcutta High Court had handed over the investigation of heinous crimes to the CBI.
