KANPUR: Three people were injured, one among them critically, after two-groups resorted to stone pelting in the city’s Gujaini area under bar police station on Friday.
On receiving the information, police rushed to the spot and scanned the CCTV cameras, and identified the people involved in the incident.
On the basis of CCTV footage, the police, after registering a complaint in this regard, have taken seven people into custody and are interrogating them.
A group of locals hailing from Barra’s Gujaini village, said that on Friday, during Holi celebrations, songs were being played on the sound system outside the house of Naresh Raidas.
After a while, the family members of Naresh stopped playing the songs, which was objected to by one Bhim Singh Chauhan of the village who insisted on playing the song to which one Vipin of the village, protested, and a fight resulted between Bhim Singh and Vipin.
Later, the family members of Bhim and Vipin clashed with each other and resorted to stone- pelting.
In the meantime, someone alerted the police control room. Subsequently, a police team from the local police station rushed to the spot, but by then, the trouble-makers had fled the site. The police rushed three people, who had suffered injuries, to the hospital.
In-charge Barra police station Dinanath Mishra said, “Two sides clashed over playing of songs during Holi celebrations on Friday. “Three people have sustained wounds. One among the injured, identified as Ajay Kumar, has suffered critical wounds. The footage of some people has been found in the CCTV camera. A report is being filed on the basis of the complaint. Seven people have been taken into custody and investigations are on.”
