The India vs Pakistan Super Four game in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 moved to the reserve day following a washout on Sunday in Colombo. The rain showed up hours after Babar Azam asked Rohit Sharma & Co to bat first, allowing no more play after 24.1 overs. The ground staff at the R Premadasa Stadium were on their toes to make the conditions playable but the weather had other plans. Repeated showers forced the officials to take the final call and the game was finally called off.

The match will resume on Monday – the designated reserve day –  but the situation in Colombo looks no better as it’s been raining since morning in the Sri Lankan capital. People on social media are sharing pictures and videos from the city, indicating another possible washout.

The reserve day came into play after a 20-over-per-side game was not possible on Sunday. The game will now resume at 03:00 PM on Monday, the match will resume at 03:00 PM. India will resume from 147/2 (24.1 overs) with KL Rahul 17* and Virat Kohli 8* in the middle. It will continue as a 50-over-per-side contest.

What if the Reserve Day gets washed out?

If Reserve Day is washed out, India and Pakistan will share a point apiece. In that case, India’s qualification for the final will become a little more challenging as Pakistan and Sri Lanka have already won their respective opening matches of this round to take two points.
