Himachal Pradesh has been avalanched on National Highway-3 in Tribal District Lahaul Spiti. 60 passengers coming from Pangi to Kullu are stuck in Lahaul valley due to closure of roads at 5 places including Ropsang, Mulling Nala in the valley. All the passengers stranded in the valley were rescued till late at 11:00 pm and taken to the district headquarters Keylong, where they have been accommodated in the new circuit house. Here their food and drink arrangements have been made by the disaster management and administration. According to the information received, the avalanche took place in Ropsang Nala, about 27 km from the district headquarter Keylong and 12 km from Maling Nala.

Apart from this, avalanches have taken place at three more places. Due to which the road got blocked and 60 people coming to Kullu in 5 vehicles from Pangi, including 35 men, 19 women and 6 children were trapped. Rescue team of police and BRO arrived to rescue them. They have been shifted to the district headquarters Keylong. Although, the road near Ropsang Nala was cleared by BRO jawans late in the night itself, but the way ahead is yet to be cleared. The work of restoring the route has been started on Wednesday morning and the rescue operation is going on even in minus 15 degree temperature.

SP Lahaul Spiti Manav Verma said that late on Tuesday night, the BRO has cleared the road near Ropsang drain by removing debris. BRO has resumed the work of clearing the way ahead on Wednesday morning. In the rescue operation that lasted till late night, BRO and police personnel took out the people trapped in vehicles in -15 degree temperature and safely transported them to the district headquarters Keylong, where arrangements for their stay have been made by the administration. Everyone is safe and once the route is restored, all the passengers will be sent towards Manali.

DGRE issues Avalaunch Bulletin
On the other hand, Defense GEO Informatics Research Establishment (DGRE) has also issued an avalanche bulletin warning of avalanches in many areas of Kullu district as well as Lahaul Spiti district. The DGRE has issued a warning of avalanches at various places along the Manali-Leh road, along the Manali-Beas Kund, Udaipur-Killad-Chamba, Spiti-Kinnaur-Shimla and Jalodipass routes of Banjar.

Advisory issued for passengers
The Lahaul-Spiti administration has issued advisory for people traveling between Kullu and Lahaul. Superintendent of Police Lahaul Spiti Manav Verma said that the road from Solang to Sisu is open for the local residents of Lahaul Spiti and Pangi, for vehicles and for Tata Sumos with chains. The road is one-way and the sky is cloudy. The road leading to Mulling is currently blocked.
