Ashok Chavan, a prominent Congress figure making the switch to the BJP, found himself in an amusing moment as he inadvertently referred to Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar as the Congress’s city unit president during his address at the saffron party’s state headquarters in Mumbai on Tuesday, as reported by PTI.
The audience erupted into laughter before Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis intervened to fix those mistakes. Acknowledging the blunder with a touch of embarrassment, Chavan attributed it to his long association with the Congress party.
Regaining his poise, he quipped, “It’s a slip of the tongue. This marks my inaugural day at the BJP headquarters, and I request you to excuse me,” prompting a round of chuckles from the crowd, PTI reported.
