Anti-filariasis Drive From Mar 7 In Ramgarh | Ranchi News – Times of India

Ramgarh: The district health department along with the administration officials will start a six-day mass drug administration programme from Monday to eradicate filariasis, a vector-borne disease mostly affecting the rural areas.
The programme will target about 10.44 lakh people at 1,170 booths, officials said on Friday.
Addressing a press conference, deputy development commissioner Nagendra Kumar Sinha and civil surgeon Dr Prabhat Kumar said filariasis is caused by filarial worms and trigger abnormal swelling in the legs of affected people.
Sinha said, “A total of 1,170 booths have been set up in 364 villages under 143 panchayats to administer the drug.”
Dr. Kumar added that Ramgarh is among 12 filariasis-affected districts in the state where an eradication programme is being rolled out.
