In Delhi’s Kanjhawala accident case, a court has granted bail to the accused Ashutosh Bhardwaj. Ashutosh had filed a bail application saying that he had nothing to do with the Anjali accident case. He was not in the car during the incident. Accepting this argument, the court granted him bail.

On the night of December 31, at around 1.30 am, four people riding a car hit a scooty in Kanjhawala area. Anjali and her friend were sitting on the scooty. The friend fell there while Anjali got trapped under the car. The accused dragged him for 12 km. Police investigation revealed that this car belonged to Ashutosh.

An accused got bail on January 7
In this accident case, the police had arrested 7 accused. Out of which one of the accused Ankush Khanna was granted bail on January 7. He had conspired to save his brother in this case and also tried to hide the rest of the accused. Granting him bail on a personal bond of Rs 20,000, the court said that he will have to come in the investigation if needed.

On January 6, Ankush Khanna surrendered at Sultanpuri police station. He lied to the police in his statement. Ankush had said that Deepak, not his brother Amit Khanna, was driving the car at the time of the accident. However later, police investigation revealed that Amit was driving the vehicle and did not even have a driving license.

The five accused in the picture are Manoj Mittal, Deepak Khanna, Amit Khanna, Krishna and Mithun.  He was caught on 1 January.  After this, the sixth accused Ashutosh was also arrested.

Home Ministry had given instructions to impose murder section on the accused

On January 13, the Ministry of Home Affairs had directed the Delhi Police to add section 302 in this case. That is, the accused will be charged with murder. Along with this, 11 police personnel on duty in 3 PCR vans and 2 pickets were suspended.

Senior Delhi Police officer Shalini Singh submitted the investigation report of the case to the Ministry of Home Affairs, after which the Ministry gave these instructions to the police.
