- Amit Shah Muslim Leaders Meeting Update; Assures Action On Lynchings And Hate Speech

Delegation of Muslim religious leaders met Home Minister Amit Shah late on Tuesday night. In this meeting, the delegation was led by Maulana Mahmood Madani, President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind. Many people including Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Secretary Niaz Farooqui, All India Muslim Personal Law Board member Kamal Farooqui and Professor Akhtarul Wasey attended the meeting.
According to media reports, in the meeting, Shah assured to take strict action in cases like lynching and hate speech. After the meeting, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind secretary Niaz Farooqui said that he was completely different from Amit Shah who gave political speeches. He told that Amit Shah listened to his concerns in detail and gave positive answers. They were not dismissing his words.
Delegation raised 14 issues in the meeting
The delegation of Muslim religious leaders also made a presentation on the problems faced by the Muslim community. According to media reports, 14 issues were raised during this period. Farooqui told that he did not target any leader. This was not even his target. Our aim was to increase the spirit of cooperation and change the atmosphere of the country.
The meeting started at around 11 pm on Tuesday late night which lasted for about one and a half hours.
Main issues raised in the meeting
- The issue of communal violence after Ram Navami.
- The case of setting fire to the madrasa in Nalanda.
- Case of murder of two youths of Bharatpur, Rajasthan. The burnt bodies of these youths were found in a car in Haryana.
- Issue of Same Sex Marriage and Uniform Civil Code. Although Shah did not say anything on this.
- The case of abolition of reservation for Muslims in Karnataka.
- Citizenship Amendment Act issue. It has been talked about holding a detailed meeting in future.
In the meeting with the Home Minister, the main focus was on the violence after Ramnavami.
Shah’s silence frustrates Muslims: Delegation
The issue of hate speech by BJP leaders was also raised in the meeting. In response, Shah said that there are all kinds of people but it is not right to see all people through the same lens. He said that the government is not involved in hate speech.
The delegation told Shah that your silence spreads despair among Muslims. On this Shah said that he would look into the matter.
