Amid ‘Adipurush’ Controversy, Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayan’ To Air Again On TV From Next Week

New Delhi: After the entire ‘Adipurush’ controversy, it looks like the makers of Ramanand Sagar’s popular Hindi TV show ‘Ramayan’ will be re-streaming the show on TV for fans to watch. Shemaroo TV, producers of the show, made the announcement that the mythological show will be airing from July 3 on the channel. In Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayan’, Arun Govil and Sipika Chikhlia played the role of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita respectively. Sunil Lahiri played the role of Lakshman in the iconic TV show which has a cult following since the 80s.

The announcement of airing ‘Ramayan’ comes at a time when the ‘Adipurush’ controversy is still fresh. The Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan starrer has been at the centre of controversy for its portrayal of characters who are deities in Hindu mythology. The film’s dialogues, ethos and the screenplay in general has also faced a lot of flak.


Meanwhile, the makers shared a short clip from the TV show on its social media pages and wrote, “World famous mythological serial Ramayan is back for all the fans and our audience. Watch it from July 3, 7.30pm, on your favourite channel Shemaroo TV).” The post also shared the channel number for various digital TV service companies.

Soon after the channel made the announcement, the comments thread was flooded with posts like “Wah shemaroo tv adipurush ka virus nikalne ke liye,”. Many even urged the channel to air ‘Ramayan’ some other time and asked for reruns of a few other TV serials as well.

‘Ramayan’ was also re-run during the first wave of COVID-19 after a wide public demand for rerun made the Information and Broadcasting Ministry retelecast the mythological series on Doordarshan.

‘Ramayan’ will be shown on Shemaroo TV from July 3, Monday to Sunday at 7:30 pm
