In recent interviews, he brushed off the idea that his wife Twinkle Khanna was affected by social media attacks against him, specifically regarding his citizenship. He also discussed the ‘coincidence’ of receiving his new Indian passport on August 15, Independence Day.
In an interview with India Today, Akshay stated that Twinkle is unfazed by the online attacks directed at him, and they do not discuss it. He questioned the need for such conversations, saying, “Nothing, what is there to have a conversation about?” he asked. Akshay thinks people criticise him just to make an impact, but they lose interest eventually.
In an interview with Times Now, Akshay refuted claims of being forced to give up his Canadian citizenship. He clarified that he hadn’t visited Canada in almost ten years. “Even when I was holding a Canadian passport, I was paying all my taxes here. I was the highest tax payer. I didn’t know people would be so bothered. I applied for citizenship, but it took over a year and a half because of the pandemic. Amazingly, I received it on Independence Day,” he said.
Akshay, who was last seen in the film Mission Raniganj, admitted it didn’t do as well as he wanted. But he said it wasn’t meant to be a big hit. The movie made around Rs 14 crore in its first four days. As per early estimates shared by Sacnilk.com, the total collection of the film stands at ₹13.85 crore after four days of its release. On Monday, Akshay dropped the song “Jeetenge” from the film. The motivational victory track has been sung by B Praak, who also appears in the music video.
