A tractor-trolley full of 50 devotees fell into the pond in Ghatampur, Kanpur on Saturday night. 26 people died in the accident. More than 10 are injured. After the accident, the villagers took out the dead bodies of 24 people one by one. Two children succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
It is being told that all the devotees were returning after visiting Chandrika Devi temple in Unnao. All the people are residents of Kortha village of Ghatampur. The dead included 14 children and 13 women.

Late night postmortem of all the dead bodies was done at Bhitargaon CHC. After this 26 bodies were brought one by one to the village.

The dead and injured were taken to the hospital by ambulance. When the condition became critical, many people were referred to Halat Hospital in Kanpur. Most of the people who died are from the same family.
During the accident, many people reached to find their family members. Because of the darkness, it was difficult to find them. There was chaos for 4-5 hours.
Police officers reached the spot on the information of the accident. He inquired about the incident from the people. Also took care of the injured. Expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.

When so many bodies reached the district hospital of Ghatampur together, there was panic. The injured were admitted and treatment was started immediately in the hospital. However, some people alleged that there was no doctor in the hospital.
The staff was seen trying to save lives in the district hospital. The injured were immediately taken off the ambulance and admitted to the ward on a stretcher and treatment was started.
When such a number of injured arrived at the same time, there was chaos. All the officials including ministers reached the hospital. Took care of the injured. Condolences extended to the families of the deceased.
Seeing the condition of her family members, the woman kept crying. He told that everything was robbed of him. I don’t know how such a big accident happened. Said that God did no good to him.
The families continued to worry about the injured children. Many children have been injured in the accident. Some are being treated at Ghatampur District Hospital and some in Halat.
When Kanpur DM reached Halat Hospital on the information of the accident, the family members started creating ruckus alleging that the doctor was not there. The DM pacified the family members in some way. After this, people also complained about the matter to Minister Rakesh Sachan.
Seeing loved ones in the hospital, the elderly kept crying. He told that Mundan had gone to the rites. Had I known all this would happen, I would not have gone. But who can avert it.
People created a ruckus in the hospital alleging that they did not get treatment. The police somehow calmed down the matter by persuasion.
The family was furious when the CHC did not get treatment. They raged for a long time. During this, people also had a fight with the police.
