New Delhi: Tamil Nadu’s Health and Family Welfare Minister Ma Subramanian on Monday revealed that of the 34 patients in the state, 18 have been discharged from hospitals while the remaining 16 are being treated in the special wards. A central health team will be visiting the state on Monday, he further said.
The vaccination camps in the state for children who are in the age group of 15-18 years will start from next Monday (January 3), the Tamil Nadu health minister announced.

In this context, while speaking to the media, Tamil Nadu Health Secretary K Radhakrishnan said that the state government has upped the ante to test at least 20,000 passengers in Chennai instead of 10,000 while directing the travellers from “non-at-risk” countries to stay in home quarantine.

Tamil Nadu’s first patient who tested positive for the Omicron variant is a 47-year-old man who travelled from Nigeria via Doha to Chennai.
