Delhi Police has told the court that Zubair, the co-founder of fact-checking website AltNews, was funded from countries like Pakistan and Syria. Zubair is in police custody for 5 days and he is accused of inciting religious sentiments.

Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Atul Srivastava, appearing for the police, said that during the initial investigation, a case of misappropriation of foreign funding has come to the fore, which is to be investigated. So Zubair should not be granted bail.

Police filed a case for eradication of evidence and foreign funding
The Delhi Police on Saturday registered a fresh case against Zubair for destruction of evidence and wrongful receiving of foreign funding. A police official said that section 201, 120B of IPC and section 35 of FCRA have been imposed on Zubair.

A bail application has been filed on behalf of Zubair in the court. He was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police on June 27. He is accused of conspiracy, including inciting religious sentiments.
