Young man’s 4 fingers cut off with sword in Mohali: Suspected of involvement in brother’s murder, made video and posted on social media

A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Mohali, Punjab. Here three youths cut off all four fingers of a person with a sword in broad daylight. Not only this, the youth made a video of the entire incident and made it viral on social media.

The incident took place at the cremation ground in Mohali’s Badhmajra village. The name of the person whose four fingers were amputated is Hardeep Singh alias Raju. Hardeep, 24, is a resident of Mohali.

Two of the three attackers have been identified. These include Gauri of Badhmajra village and Tarun of Patiala. His third accomplice has not been identified. All the three attackers are absconding since the incident. This incident took place on 8 February and the Mohali police registered an FIR in this on 9 February but did not allow the matter to come to the fore. Now after the video, the whole matter has come to the fore.

Police have registered a case under IPC sections 326, 365, 379B, 34 and Arms Act.

In the 33 second video related to the incident, it is clearly visible that one of the 3 attackers kept Raju’s hand on the ground while holding him. After that, the second attacker cut off all four fingers of his hand with a sword. The third youth kept making a video of the whole incident.

In the first strike of the sword, the fingers are not completely severed and Raju withdraws his hand due to pain. After this, the attackers threaten him that if he does not extend his hand, they will cut his neck. After this, the assailants forcefully forward Raju’s hand and do two-three more blows with the sword.

Revenge on suspicion of brother’s murder

In fact, a young man named Bunty was killed 7-8 months ago in Balongi village of Mohali. Before the incident, Bunty’s friend Hardeep Singh alias Raju had called her over the phone. Bunty has two brothers and she suspected that Hardeep was involved in her brother’s murder. At the time when Bunty was murdered, her brother Gauri was in jail in a case.

As soon as he came out of jail after getting parole in February, Gauri decided to avenge his brother’s murder. Gauri sent her friend Tarun and another youth to Hardeep on 8 February. Hardeep was sitting in Phase-1 of Mohali at that time. Tarun and another youth told Hardeep that they were members of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of the Punjab Police and had come to pick him up for questioning in a case. When both the youths reached near the car with Hardeep, Bunty’s brother Gauri was already sitting in it. When Hardeep tried to run away after seeing Gauri, the three together beat him badly and took him in a car to the cremation ground in Badhmajra village. There all three cut off all four fingers of Hardeep’s hand with a sword.

As soon as the news of the incident was received, the family members took Hardeep to Chandigarh PGI. There the doctors succeeded in connecting his two fingers after a major operation lasting several hours. Two fingers could not be joined due to severe damage to the nerves due to multiple sword strikes.

Mohali police registered a case in this regard on February 9 at Phase-I police station against Gauri, Tarun and their third accomplice under IPC sections 326, 365, 379B, 34 and Arms Act. At present all the three accused are absconding. Police is questioning his family and relatives.

Senior BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Punjab Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira shared the video on their respective Twitter accounts. In his tweet, Khaira tagged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the DGP of Punjab Police and wrote that an incident of horrific and Taliban-type torture has taken place in Mohali.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa targeted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal and the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab for the incident. Sirsa wrote that law and order in Punjab is completely over and there is complete jungle raj in the state. Seeing this horrifying video, there is fear about the future of Punjab.
