The police received sensational information about the suicide of a young woman in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Yesterday, the young woman, a first year student of a private university, committed suicide by jumping from the roof of a 10-storey building in Dakshinkhan Mollartek area of the capital. After her death, the police recovered a suicide note from her house, in which the girl described her father as a ‘rapist’, ‘tyrant’ and ‘inhuman’. There has been an uproar around this suicide note written by him.
According to local sources, the girl lived with her parents. Yesterday around 12:30 pm, he jumped from that high-rise. He was first taken to a local hospital and later to a crippled hospital in a critical condition, but the doctors declared him dead. His body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem. The police personnel were shocked to see the suicide note that the police recovered from the spot during the investigation.
Blaming her father for the death in the suicide note, the young woman wrote, ‘My father is responsible for the death. One can live with animals but not with non-humans. A rapist and tyrant who does not spare a maid I am the beginning of his sad fate.’ After the suicide note was recovered, the girl’s mother lodged a police complaint against the husband. He demanded justice. In this incident, the police have filed a complaint against the girl’s father for abetting suicide. At the same time, they are trying to arrest him. Besides, the police is probing all the allegations that the young woman made in the suicide note before her death.
