Yellow alert for heavy snowfall in Himachal today and tomorrow: Rain expected in Delhi, Chandigarh-Punjab

In Punjab, it was sunny throughout the day on Sunday, while the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh received snowfall at one or two places. Snowfall is said to be good for agriculture and horticulture. The temperature has gone below zero in 7 cities due to cold wave. In Himachal, 252 roads including three National Highways are still closed.

Atal Tunnel Rohtang has opened for vehicles after 3 days. However, right now only four by four vehicles are being allowed to move. The Border Roads Organization has cleared the snow and restored the Manali Leh strategic road up to Keylong-Darcha. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for snowfall and rain on 23 and 24.

At the same time, in Punjab, day time mercury has been recorded from 180 to 240 on Sunday. The temperature has increased by 30 to 40 during the last 24 hours. The minimum temperature ranged from 30 to 70.

There is a possibility of rain from 23 to 27. This is likely to increase the temperature of the night.

Delhi: Cold will haunt again
After feeling pleasant weather in Delhi, the Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of Delhi shivering cold and rain in the atmosphere. According to the Meteorological Department, due to a western disturbance moving rapidly from Afghanistan to India, there is a possibility of cold and rain and strong wind in Delhi once again. Along with this, heavy snowfall and western disturbances are being reported in the hilly areas of North India.

Cold wave is expected to knock again in North India from January 23. The IMD said that according to the Meteorological Department a Western Disturbance is present in the form of a cyclonic circulation over Afghanistan and neighbourhood. Due to this, light rain is likely over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh on 23rd, followed by light rain and thundershowers over Delhi during January 24 to 27.

The IMD has said that the Western Disturbance is very likely to move gradually eastwards during January 23 to 27.

Haryana: Chances of drizzle from 24 to 26
On the other hand, the weather remained clear in Haryana on Sunday. Day temperature was recorded 19.6 in Hisar, 22.4 in Amba and 22 degrees in Narnaul. There are chances of drizzle and rain from 24 to 26. No change in temperature is expected from this.

Himachal Pradesh: Snowfall likely in 6 districts on January 23-24
Himachal Pradesh received snowfall at one or two places in the higher reaches while the weather remained clear in the lower reaches. It was sunny all day long. This kept the minimum temperature. Although the period of cold wave continues. In the areas of Bilaspur, Mandi, Hamirpur, there is fog in the morning.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy snowfall and rain in 6 districts of Lahaul, Kinnaur, Chamba, Dharamshala, Kullu and Sirmaur on 23 and 24 January. Today there are chances of hailstorm in some areas. Due to snowfall in the past days, 252 roads including three National Highways, 20 transformers, 5 drinking water schemes are closed.

Avalanche expected
There is a possibility of avalanche in 4 districts of the state. Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) Manali issued a warning and advised people to be vigilant. According to the department, glaciers and icebergs may fall in Kullu, Lahaul Spiti, Chamba’s Pangi and Kinnaur districts. In such a situation, an alert has been issued for the tourists and the general public, so that no accident takes place.

Nehru Kund, Kulang, Palchan, Kothi, Rohtang Pass, Solanganala, Dhundhi, Vyaskund, South Portal and Banjar, Jalodi Pass connecting Ani sub-division, Koksar in Lahaul Spiti, Sisu, Tandi, Darcha, Sarchu, Udaipur in district Kullu. An avalanche warning has been issued from the hills of Kirting, Chhatdu, Batal, Losar, Sumdo, Kalpa and Pooh in Kinnaur district, while there is a possibility of snowfall at many places in the Kilad region of Chamba. The administration has also urged the tourists as well as the people not to go towards the avalanche zone.

Bihar: Temperature will rise from January 25, relief from cold expected
The effect of cold is gradually reducing in 31 districts of Bihar. Along with the day, the night temperature is also increasing. However, fog is affecting all parts of Bihar. Half a dozen districts including Patna, Gaya, Purnia were covered with dense fog in the morning and visibility was between 30 to 50 metres. It was foggy during the day as well.

Along with this, the disturbance is active till the western part of Uttar Pradesh through Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir and the coastal region of Bihar. Due to this, along with light rain in some parts of Bihar, there will be effect of dense fog in the central part. This situation is likely to last for two days. Along with the night, the day temperature will also remain near normal. Due to the activation of the disturbance on January 25, there will be an increase in day and night temperatures. This is expected to provide relief from the cold.

Rajasthan: Night temperature rises 2.2 degree in Jaipur
The effect of Western Disturbance also remained in Jaipur on Sunday. Due to this, it remained cloudy throughout the day. People yearned to see the sun. Cold wind also started blowing in the afternoon. By the evening, the attitude of cold became sharp. Due to cloudy sky, a slight drop in the day temperature was recorded, while the night temperature jumped up to 2.2 degrees.

Due to cloudy sky, an increase in the minimum temperature was recorded at other places in the state besides Mount Abu.

On Sunday, the maximum temperature was recorded 21.4 and the minimum temperature was 10.5 degree Celsius. Earlier on Saturday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 21.8 and the minimum at 8.3 degree Celsius. In Jaipur, the maximum temperature was 1.5 degrees Celsius below normal and the minimum temperature was 1.7 degrees Celsius above normal. According to the Meteorological Department, a new Western Disturbance has become active in the state. Due to its effect, rains are expected till January 26.

Madhya Pradesh: After 19 days visibility reduced to 500 meters again in Bhopal
The scorching temperature in the capital Bhopal softened a bit on Sunday. The day’s temperature dropped by 2 degrees due to the cover of clouds and came to 27 degrees. The night temperature increased by more than 1 degree and reached 13.6 degree. And there was fog in the city after 19 days. Visibility had reached 500 meters by 8:30 am. Earlier on January 3, visibility was reduced to 50 meters due to fog.
