Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Re-Releases On Valentine’s Week: Theatregoers Dance To Balam Pichkari

New Delhi: The 2013 romantic comedy ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani,’ starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, has garnered a cult following over the years. To celebrate its enduring popularity, PVR INOX has re-released the film during Valentine’s week. Despite being over a decade old, the audience’s response to the re-release has been overwhelmingly positive.

Videos capturing the audience’s reactions to the film have been circulating widely on social media since its re-release. These videos depict more than just a movie screening; they capture an emotional connection that the audience shares with the film.

One Twitter user shared a video from a cinema hall in Delhi where viewers were seen enthusiastically dancing to the song ‘Balam Pichkari’ from the movie.

Fans of ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ have flooded social media with their reactions. Many expressed their nostalgia and admiration for the film, with one user remarking, “”Bunny and Naina again in #theaters…#Yehjawaanihaideewani watched again in theaters. Again a filmy dream came true…”

In the aftermath of the lockdown, movie theatres have shifted their attention back to making audiences feel immersed and to fostering community engagement. A large portion of the public’s positive reaction to the re-release of several great films in recent years has been attributable to the communal nature of watching these films.

Even after nearly 11 years since its original release, Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ continues to draw audiences to theatres in large numbers.
