New Zealand batsman Ross TaylorThe winning run-scorer in the final of the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC), after an eight-wicket win over India called the title victory the “highlight” of his career.

“It would be the highlight of my career. Early in my career, I thought maybe we didn’t have any sides to do,” said Taylor, who postponed retirement two years ago.

The right-handed batsman had earlier said that he would have retired if New Zealand won the 50-over World Cup in 2019.

“It’s still sinking in but it’s been a few years to come. It rained a lot but the way the team struggled from day one to stay out a bit in a critical position, it’s something I never Will forget, said the 37-year-old, who has played 107 Tests for New Zealand.

“But I am sure, some Kiwi players are waking up who will feel very proud. There was a lot of pressure, it was good to face it. The 2019 World Cup was something that was very difficult for us at the time, but it would have made up for that. Over time, it will sink in a little more.”
