Three months back, several women wrestlers including Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat had accused WFI President Brij Bhushan Singh of sexual harassment. Along with women wrestlers, many male wrestlers including Bajrang Punia had also reached Jantar Mantar to support the removal of Brij Bhushan Singh from the post.

Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the Union Sports Minister and the Olympic Association constituted an inquiry committee under the leadership of boxer Mary Kom. Apart from Mary Kom, the sports ministry committee included Olympic medalist wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, former badminton player Trupti Murgunde, former TOPS CEO Rajagopalan and Sports Federation of India executive director Radhika Sriman. Later, Geeta Phogat was also given a place in the committee. The Sports Ministry removed Brij Bhushan Singh with immediate effect and entrusted this committee with the responsibility of handling the work of the Wrestling Federation.

At the same time, a seven-member committee was formed by the Olympic Association. The command of this committee was also handed over to MC Mary Kom. Apart from this, along with Alaknanda Ashok, Sahdev Yadav, Dola Banerjee and Yogeshwar Dutt, advocates Shlok Chandra and Talish Ray were also included.
