The rain record of 122 years has been broken in Delhi. After 122 years, this January has recorded 88.2 mm of rain. This is the first time Delhi has recorded so much rain in January since the Meteorological Department submitted its rainfall data in 1901. Earlier in 1989, Delhi had recorded 79.7 mm of rain in the first month of the year.

Orange alert to these districts
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy snowfall in Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu and Kinnaur districts, while the higher areas of Shimla and Mandi received a yellow alert for snowfall and heavy rain in other districts and at isolated places. A warning of hail has also been given.

300 roads including 6 NH closed
More than 300 roads including 6 National Highways (NH) have been closed after fresh snowfall in the state. Transporting patients to the hospital has become challenging. NH-05 connecting Upper Shimla and Kinnaur with the capital is closed from Shimla to Rampur. The NH connecting Theog-Rohru NH, Chamba-Bharmour NH, Sainj-Luhri NH, Granphu-Samdo-NH and the tribal district Lahaul-Spiti with the country has also been blocked.
