COIMBATORE: The city police have arrested a 30-year-old man and his 49-year-old mother for murdering his father over a domestic dispute in their residence at Sri Kamatchi Nagar 1st Street at Ondipudur on Sunday.
Police identified the deceased as S Narayanasamy52, and the arrested people as N Rajkumarphotojournalist of a Tamil daily and his mother N Rajeswari.
Rajkumar and his wife R Sindhu were staying with his parents. His father Narayanasamy was in a relationship with a woman, a police officer said. “On Sunday, a baby shower ceremony was held for Sindhu in a temple at Neelikonampalayam. Narayanasamy had invited his lover to the event and she attended it.
This irked his wife Rajeswari, who fought with him. Narayanasamy hurled abuses at his wife and later left for home. After reaching home, Rajeswari and Rajkumar had a quarrel with Narayanasamy around 2.45pm. Rajeswari stabbed her husband in the genitals and Rajkumar slashed him with a sickle. Narayanasamy sustained severe injuries and died on the spot,” he said.
The Singanallur police sent the body to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for postmortem. Inspector P Arun registered a case against Rajeswari and Rajkumar under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code, and arrested them on Monday morning.
