Swastika Mukherjee was present at a film festival in Singapore back in 2014. During her time there, she was reportedly observed taking earrings from a store in a mall without paying for them. CCTV footage captured moments of her placing the earrings into her bag. However, the actress claimed that she had purchased the earrings and even provided a receipt as proof.

The earrings were valued at up to Rs 12,000. Swastika Mukherjee, who adamantly denied any theft, asserted that it must have been a misunderstanding. Furthermore, she stated that the incident was not intentional on her part.

Swastika’s big screen debut was in Hemanter Pakhi in 2001, and she gained recognition with her first leading role in Mastan in 2004. Mukherjee also made her foray into Hindi cinema with Mumbai Cutting in 2008.

At the age of 18, in 1998, Swastika Mukherjee married Promit Sen, the son of Rabindra Sangeet singer Sagar Sen. However, the marriage proved to be tumultuous and lasted only two years. Mukherjee accused Promit of physical abuse and locking her out of their home during her pregnancy. She filed charges against him for cruelty and solicitation of dowry. These charges were later dismissed, and Promit was acquitted.

Swastika later submitted an affidavit in court, admitting that her previous accusations against Promit were “unfounded, false, baseless, and speculative.” She subsequently confessed in a media conference that her allegations were indeed false. As a result, Promit’s brother sued her for damages in the Calcutta High Court, and she was held liable for Rs 7.7 crore. Mukherjee stated that Sen initially filed for divorce in 2000 but reconsidered when she found success in her acting career. From their marriage, she has one daughter, Anwesha, born in 2000.
