The feature is particularly helpful when it comes to recalling non-text messages

This feature can offer users several advantages as it simplifies the process to find specific messages from past conversations.

WhatsApp, the popular Meta-owned instant messaging application, has started rolling out a new search message by date feature, making it easier for users to quickly search for messages shared on a specific date within their conversations.

“We discovered that WhatsApp is finally rolling out the feature to search for messages by picking a date for WhatsApp Web. Whether they’re looking for a specific conversation from a memorable event or need to retrieve important information from a past date, this enhanced search functionality will definitely simplify the process,” WABetaInfo reported.

The screenshot shared by WABetaInfo revealed that a new calendar button is available while searching for messages in a conversation, that makes it possible for users to quickly open a date picker panel in order to search for a message shared on a specific date.

This feature may only be available to some users who previously joined the official beta program of WhatsApp Web, which allow them to experiment with beta features.

According to the report, this feature can offer users several advantages as it simplifies the process to find specific messages from past conversations. With the introduction of the date-based search feature, it’s finally possible to quickly locate messages from a particular date, and this not only saves time but also reduces the frustration of scrolling through long chat histories.

“The feature is particularly helpful when it comes to recalling non-text messages, such as voice notes, which can be complicated to retrieve since those without text transcriptions cannot be searched, or when users are unable to recall the exact wording in a text message,” the report said.

The search message by date feature is available to some beta testers on the latest version of WhatsApp Web who previously joined the official beta program, and it’s rolling out to more users over the coming days.
