Western Railway strict due to complaints: Now coach attendants of trains will have to deliver linen to their seats before passengers board

Also orders to pick up dirty linen 15 minutes before passenger disembarkation.

In view of the complaints related to linen in trains, the Western Railway Headquarters has issued orders to the depot in-charges of all divisions. It says that the coach attendant should be in uniform while on duty. Visit each and every cabin of every coach to know from the passengers what kind of assistance they require.

Orders to take back dirty linen 15 minutes before
Further it is said to instruct the attendant to hand over the linen at en-route stations/before the passenger boards the train; and collect the soiled linen at least 15 minutes before the passenger deboards, using the train chart or liaising with the TTE. Headquarter has ordered Coaching Depot Incharge to instruct coach attendants to provide dustbins with garbage bags in train coaches. After breakfast, lunch and dinner collect the garbage from the coach and dump it in the dustbin at the next station.

Orders were also given to make sure arrangements for watering at route watering stations in all the coaches of the train.

Pay special attention to the need of water in trains
Western Railway Headquarters has also ordered the attendant staff to behave courteously with the passengers. All coaches of the train have been asked to report incidents of watering in coaches at the route watering stations. Apart from Linen, the Western Railway Headquarters has ordered the coaching depots of many major stations including Surat and Mumbai Central to install CCTV cameras for safety in major trains. These cameras should be installed between the lower part of the train, AC coach and general coach. With this, the activities of train operations can be closely monitored.
