West Bengal: No political courtesy for opposition, says Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury | Kolkata News – Times of India

KOLKATA: Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Thursday said that the opposition leaders in West Bengal are not being extended the political courtesy they get in the rest of the country.
Chowdhury said that he was not shown the courtesy to remain present at the Republic Day celebration.
Chowdhury’s statement comes a day after leader of the opposition Suvendu Adhikari alleged that he was not invited to the Republic Day function at the Red Road in Kolkata on Thursday.
“It is unfortunate that opposition leaders in the state do not get due respect. We got an invitation to the Republic Day celebration at Rajpath in New Delhi. Unfortunately, that does not happen in West Bengal. I was at my Lok Sabha constituency Berhampore on Wednesday. Even the district administration did not show me the courtesy to invite me for the Republic Day celebration there. We are not accustomed to such lack of courtesy by the administration,” Chowdhury said.
