WBBSE Results 2024: Labourer’s Son Gets 90% In Class 10 But Now Faces This Dilemma – News18

A student named Manu Shah from a small village in Alipurduar district has set an example by scoring 540 marks in the class 10th examination.

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has declared the results for the Madhyamik examination (Class 10th) 2024 recently during a press conference at WBBSE headquarters.

A student named Manu Shah from a small village in Alipurduar district has set an example by scoring 540 marks in the class 10th examination. Despite excelling as the block topper in Kalchini through the Hindi medium in Madhyamik, Manu is facing significant obstacles as there are no Hindi-medium schools in the district that offer science education.

His father works as a day labourer and he runs a small shop to support the family. He prepared for the examination under the dim light of a single bulb in his room. However, the lack of science education options in Hindi-medium schools has left him in a dilemma. While he harbours a strong desire to pursue science, the financial constraints of his family make transitioning to an English medium school unattainable.

Manu said, “I have come from a Hindi medium background since childhood. I can’t change the medium now. Even if I could study in English, the cost is beyond our family’s means.” Despite the challenges, he remains hopeful that someone will come forward to help him fulfil his dream of becoming a scientist.

The students can check and download their WBBSE mark sheets from the official websites at wbbse.wb.gov.in and wbresults.nic.in. To check the result, students have to log in with their roll number and date of birth.

Chandrachur Sen, a student from Cooch Behar, has topped the West Bengal Class 10 exam with 99 per cent marks. The overall pass percentage this year is 86.31 per cent, with 57 students in the top 10 list.

This year, the West Bengal class 10th exams 2024 were held between February 2 and 12, in pen-and-paper mode, and over 9 lakh students appeared for the Madhyamik exams.
