Union raliway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday visited the Bhubaneswar railway station and inspected the redevelopment work. After the inspection, the Union minister said that the work has completed upto 3rd-4th floor and similar progress could be seen at other stations too.
“PM Modi has taken up the initiative to make the railway stations across the country world-class and good progress has been made in this direction…Here at Bhubaneswar railway station, work is complete upto 3rd-4th floor. You can see similar progress at other stations too,” Vaishnaw said while speaking to news agency ANI.
“Prime Minister Modi focusses on local products a lot. His program is ‘Vocal for Local’. Just like ‘One District One Program’, a ‘One Station One Product’ scheme has been made by the Prime Minister. Under this, more than 1000 stalls are installed at stations,” he added.

The firm engaged in the work said that the redeveloped Puri railway station will reflect the traditional architectural features of the famed Jagannath Temple and have all modern amenities for the convenience of passengers.
The work is expected to be completed by July next year, it said.
The station is being rebuilt in accordance with the Kalinga architecture that originated in the fourth century BC.
“Since the iconic Jagannath Temple is a living example of Kalinga style of architecture, the exterior of the station will reflect that,” Prateek Rath of Rath Architectonic said, according to PTI.
“In Kalinga architecture, basically a temple is made in two parts, a tower and a hall,” said Manonjaya Rath of the firm.
“The tower is called ‘deula’ and the hall is called ‘jagmohan’…. The design of the Puri railway Station reflects the concept of ‘deula’ at the entrance and ‘jagmohan’ in the concourse at the rear, which is a 115-metre-by-30-metre space with a height of 18 metres,” he added.
